A Meal & More is a downtown soup kitchen serving dinners on Sunday and Wednesday to the homeless of all ages, disabled, unemployed and elderly. The kitchen is based at Christ Church on East Avenue. The guests are offered moral support and encouragement in coping with their situations, as well as information on emergency shelter, public assistance or job opportunities. In addition to financial assistance, St. Thomas’ provides volunteers to work in the kitchen and serve meals on the first Wednesday of each month. Our Fifth Chapter has for many years provided desserts for the Wednesday meals, as well as used clothing, toiletries and other necessary items that are made available to the guests.
