Ministries and Commissions of the Council of Ministries

The ministries and commissions that fall under the auspices of the Council of Ministries are organized into several broad areas. Descriptions of the ministries can be found by clicking a link or by using the navigation to the left.

Everybody Welcome: The Everybody Welcome Commission embraces the Everybody Welcome philosophy. Our Everybody Welcome Ministry welcomes visitors and those who are new to our parish, making sure they are comfortable in our parish community. The Publicity Committee publicizes the work of the church at its people.

Member Resources Commission: St. Thomas’ is a very active church! Consider the Member Resources Commission a human resources committee for church volunteers. The Commission is responsible for identifying interests and talents of all parishioners. Once volunteers are identified, the Commission encourages, enables and supports parishioners as they carry out their personal call to service through the church’s commissions and/or ministries. Member Enrichment Commission: Parish members of St. Thomas’ have a number of ways to grow and develop in the spirit of Christ our Lord. The Member Enrichment Commission represents the Adult Education Ministry and Daily Ministry groups, and the church Library. Click on each link for more details.

Mission/Outreach Commission: The purpose of the Mission/Outreach Commission is to empower the parishioners of St. Thomas’ to give witness to the Kingdom of God in the world with the support of the parish family. We achieve this purpose through the allocation of parish family generated funds along with the contribution of our members’ time and talent in support of those in need - the hungry, the incarcerated, the elderly, those in need of proper shelter, and those that are discriminated against for reasons of race, sex, or other issues. Click here for more detail on the many ministries that St. Thomas’ parishioners serve.

Parish Life: Parish Life coordinates many of the activities that provide opportunities for us as a parish family to greet each other in an atmosphere of hospitality and friendship though social events and special projects. All are welcome to participate in any of the fellowship groups linked here.

Youth: Two youth groups (YPF and JYPF) are actively engaged in St. Thomas’ activities. The Youth Steering Committee is the primary decision making body for these two groups and is comprised of youth and adults, collaborating to offer experiences for our youth that provide fun, fellowship, and service within a Christian context, while building and strengthening connections to God, one another, and parish adults. Click here for more information on both youth groups and the Youth Steering Committee.

Watchcare Commission: The Watchare Commission coordinates the various ministry teams that provide lay pastoral care to our members and to friends connected with the parish when they are ill, injured, bereaved, anxious or in other such need. Click here for more detail on the many ways in which Watchcare provides care to St. Thomas’ parish community.
