Step by Step helps incarcerated women to rebuild their lives. At the Monroe Correctional Facility and other sites, they offer highly structured, eight-week long Life History Workshops. There the women look reflectively at their lives, share their stories, and find strengths within themselves that they didn’t know they had. In the process, the women come to an understanding and healing of their pasts, and they begin to “rewrite their stories”. Souls are awakened and lives are changed. Volunteers are welcome, and can work directly with the women as co-facilitators of Life History Workshops, and in a number of other ways (eg. office work, etc.).
